Calculator methodology
Debt-Consolidation Comparison Calculator: Methodology
The calculator estimates how long entered debts take to amortise at the entered fixed monthly payments and compares that path with a proposed consolidation loan.
Calculation approach
- If a payment does not cover monthly interest, the calculator flags the debt as not amortising.
- The new loan uses standard amortisation plus entered fees.
- The result does not account for future changes in variable rates or minimum-payment rules.
What the calculator deliberately does not decide
The calculator does not select a lender, predict approval, expose lender policy or provide personal financial or tax advice. It is a transparent comparison tool so you can test structure before seeking a quote.
